About the time that Steve's self-titled record came out, he and Sanctified Shells were to make an appearance here on the west coast in LA. The show was cancelled for whatever reason. I was so disappointed. Thank you staffordhunter and youtube for letting me finally witness this group!

I was the TUBIST for Dr John Mack 's 1971-72 PHILLY ALL CITY JAZZ ENSEMBLE. My brother Arnold was 2nd Trombone, Rob Eubanks 3rd trombone, Billy Johnson drum kit, Boonie 1st chair trombone, Dr Mack's son Jeff on 4th trombone. We played live for Dr David Baker of Downbeat writer at Temple University. We played live audition for MILES DAVIS' french horn player, Dean of New England Conservatory. I was the 1st he offered a full scholarship to Dec 1971 but said i was accepted to THE U.S. NAVAL ACADEMY.
